Cheryl Gilman, CPM
I was raised in a home where my mother stressed the importance of natural birth and breastfeeding, which impacted my desire to serve women in this capacity. Following my graduation from Sweet Briar College in 1990, I married my best friend, Scott and by 1995 had birthed three children with an OB/GYN in a hospital. These three experiences fueled my passion for researching evidence based birth.
I experienced firsthand the amazing care and support that the midwifery model could offer during my fourth pregnancy in 1998. In between my fourth and fifth pregnancy I became a doula, fulfilling my dream to be “with women”. After 12 years of practicing as a doula, I followed my dream to become a home birth midwife in the beginning of 2010. The joy of caring for women in their own homes and encouraging them to receive the gift of new life brings me tremendous satisfaction and peace.
I provide prenatal care, home birth & water birth services to women and their families within a 60 mile radius of the Kansas City metropolitan area.
