Katie Connor, CPM
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, my siblings and I were all delivered by midwives in the hospital, where that is the norm. I attended high school and college in Indiana, but when I turned twenty I decided to search for sunnier skies and moved to Hawaii to work with a humanitarian organization called Surfing The Nations.
My journey as a midwife began four years later after several trips to the developing world showed me the absolute crisis that is maternal and infant health internationally. I studied midwifery at Go Midwife in Kona, Hawai’i and served at a rural birth clinic in Togo, West Africa. After returning from Africa I spent a year in Los Angeles studying midwifery at a birth clinic before transitioning to Kansas City to apprentice with Amber Walla and Beth Oster in October of 2016.
In June of 2017 I finished my CPM, Certified Professional Midwife, requirements and passed the NARM, North American Registry of Midwives examination. Since then I have been working in partnership with Amber at Sacred Song Homebirth. I have long term goals to train midwives in the developing world so you may see me popping in and out of the country when I can, with the dream of eventually moving overseas permanently.
