The seed for midwifery was planted at a very young age as I had the opportunity to witness the birth of my younger siblings in our very own living room. However, it was the stories of countless women who watered that seed of “midwife” within me, allowing for this fiery passion to grow. A passion not simply for “home birth” but for women to walk into motherhood confidently— knowing that they can trust their body, voice, and intuition. Access to education, local resources, and awareness of options are foundational when it comes to mothers making decisions best suited for themselves and their family. I am passionate not about “midwife care” but “mother-led” care. It’s more than where you birth. . . it’s about feeling safe to walk through this wild journey of pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum knowing your voice is heard and valued.
I took a leap of faith in 2020 towards the pursuit of my path in midwifery. I realized for myself, “if you want to change the world, then change birth, and if you want to change birth— listen to mothers.” So that’s what I did. For the next two years I spent my time as a nanny connecting with mothers at parks, libraries, mommy groups (you name it!) just to hear their stories. And from these stories came more curiosity, compassion, and a calling to walk “with women”— leading me to my pursuit of intensive midwife education through GoMidwife in Bozeman Montana followed by my 2 1/2 year apprenticeship here in Kansas City under the guidance of Gloria Hines and Rebekah Hoover to become a Certified Professional Midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives. I am honored to say that I graduated spring of 2025 attending 159 births! It’s my utmost priority to keep in line with up to date practices, evidence based research, and continual education for the highest quality of care. As a midwife, I am CPR and NRP trained and certified and also have completed hands on training seminars with Dr. Stu for twin and breech deliveries.
Something that will never get old and brings me to tears every time, is hearing that relieving and victorious, “I did it” from the mouth of women who surrendered everything they had within themselves to cross that finish line, bringing life within themselves earth side and into their arms! What a miracle each and every time!
Seeing the health of women and the next generation restored begins with birth. Birth in its original design—not birth as a problem to be medicated but a physiological process to be supported. To change the world is to change the birthing process as we know it, and it starts with listening to mothers.
